2008 Charitable Donations Through Atlantic States Community Advisory Panel:

  • Through a partnership with the Town of Phillipsburg, Atlantic States and McWane, Inc. committed to paying $75,000 per year for the next two years (2008 and 2009)(for a total of $150,000) toward a project to renovate the band shell and playground equipment at Walters' Park.
  • The CAP donated $500 to the Feline Urban Rescue and Rehabilitation organization.
  • The CAP donated $500 to the Phillipsburg Exchange Club to support their annual Easter egg hunt.
  • The CAP donated $500 to Big Brothers/Big Sisters to support their Bowl for Kids’ Sake program.
  • The CAP donated $500 to the Phillipsburg Rotary Club to help pay for the costs of dictionaries for third grade students.
  • The CAP donated $500 to the Kiwanis Club to support their annual Easter feeding program.
  • The CAP sponsored two $1,000 scholarships for local high school students.
  • The CAP donated $2,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
  • The CAP donated $1,000 to the Relay for Life.
  • The CAP sponsored the Phillipsburg Downtown Association in the amount of $2,500 to help them market and advertise various community events throughout the year.
  • The CAP donated $500 to White Crane Karate for the purchase of children’s protective gear/equipment.
  • The CAP supported the Ole Towne Festival by sponsoring a trolley for $1,500.
  • The CAP sponsored the Phillispburg Criterium by being a $1,000 chorus sponsor.
  • The CAP donated $500 toward the Pohatcong History & Heritage Society’s 14th Annual Tour of Historic Pohatcong.
  • The CAP donated $390 toward uniforms for the Phillipsburg Little Liners Cheerleaders.
  • The CAP donated $500 to each of the following food banks/soup kitchens: NORWESCAP Food Bank, Blessed Hope Food Kitchen, United Wesley Methodist Food Kitchen, River of Life, Knights of Columbus, St. Philip & St. James Catholic Church, Fellowship Church for a total of $3,500.
  • The CAP donated $1,175 worth of hats and gloves to needy children during the Tree Lighting Ceremony at Shappell Park.
  • The CAP supported the Phillipsburg Senior Center Christmas Party with a donation of $1,200.
  • The CAP supported the Warren County Adoptive Family Services holiday program with a donation of $1,000.
  • The CAP sponsored six families as part of their holiday adopt-a-family program. They spent more than $3,500 purchasing items for these families.
  • The CAP provided a pizza party for the Blessed Hope Church for 30 to 40 kids and chaperones (about $200).
  • The CAP sponsored hot dogs for the Tree Lighting Ceremony (about $250).

2007 Charitable Donations Through Atlantic States Community Advisory Panel:

  • The CAP sponsored the Riverside Smoke to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation in the amount of $2,000.
  • The CAP donated $1,000 to sponsor Team Peace in the Relay for Life and an additional $200 to sponsor Elsie Fonte individually.
  • The CAP donated $500 to the Phillipsburg Exchange Club to support their annual Easter egg hunt.
  • The CAP sponsored the Downtown Association’s Motor Madness program in the amount of $1,000.
  • The CAP sponsored the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Bowl-A-Thon program in the amount of $500.
  • The CAP donated $45 to the American Legion Veterans program.
  • The CAP sponsored the First Book project in the amount of $1,000 to purchase books for children.
  • The CAP agreed to sponsor the Phillipsburg Criterium in the amount of $2,000.
  • The CAP donated $1,000 to the Domestic Abuse and Rape Crisis Center Program to help cover the costs of their training materials.
  • The CAP purchased a ½-page ad in all of the regular season programs and the Thanksgiving program to support the Booster Club ($75).
  • The CAP made a $1,000 matching commitment to the Wesley United Methodist Church for replacement of the church sign.
  • The CAP donated $1,000 to the Historic Preservation Commission.
  • The CAP donated $250 to sponsor the “tee & green combo” for St. Philip & St. James Church’s Golf Tournament to benefit the Msgr. Joseph Sheehan Memorial Scholarship Fund. A $600 foursome was also purchased.
  • The CAP donated $2,000 to the Family Success Center to be used to provide for Family Services.
  • The CAP agreed to sponsor the Chamber’s Pride Awards dinner for $500 and to purchase two tables for CAP members for $720.
  • The CAP agreed to sponsor $1,000 for leaflets advertising a gang awareness speaker at the Blessed Hope Church.
  • The CAP donated $1,200 to subsidize the costs of catering and party favors for a Christmas breakfast at the Seniors Center for the seniors and their grandchildren.
  • The CAP purchased hats and gloves at a cost of between $2,300 and $2,500.
  • The CAP sponsored eight local food pantries, kitchens ,and churches for $500 each, with a total of $4,000
  • The CAP agreed to sponsor 12 families for the Adopt-A-Family Program at a cost of $500 for each family for a total of $6,000.
  • The CAP set aside $1,700 to help the Warren County Foster and Adoptive Family Services with their holiday party.
  • The CAP donated $1,500 to purchase 350 gifts for the children of Phillipsburg for distribution at the Tree Lighting Ceremony.
  • The CAP donated $300 to pay for the hot dogs at the Tree Lighting Ceremony.

In 2005 the Atlantic States Community Advisory Panel supported the following organizations, programs, and events:

  • Phillipsburg Emergency Medical Squad for the purchase of oxygen equipment
  • Phillipsburg Public Library for audio/video equipment and furniture
  • Phillipsburg Downtown Merchant's Association to sponsor all of their community activities for the year
  • Meals on Wheels program to purchase coolers
  • Bread baskets and a microphone for the Senior Center
  • Phone cards for area troops based overseas
  • Feline Urban Rescue and Recovery (FURR)
  • Atlantic States employees to refurbish the Senior Center sign
  • Phillipsburg Exchange Club
  • Phillipsburg Chamber of Commerce for the Business Expo event
  • American Cancer Society to be a corporate sponsor of Relay-for-Life
  • Phillipsburg Criterium bike race event
  • Gift card and savings bond purchase for local Spelling Bee Winner
  • A trolley sponsorship at the Phillipsburg Ole Towne Festival
  • Bicycle and other prizes for raffle for Phillipsburg Ole Towne Festival
  • Phillipsburg Chamber of Commerce Gold Tournament
  • Garden State Underwater Rescue to assist with the purchase of a side-scan sonar device
  • Phillipsburg Youth Athletic Association to purchase basic football equipment and support basketball and wrestling activities later in the year
  • Four Phillipsburg High School Students, participation in the Leadership Warren Youth Program
  • Atlantic States employees build three trash cans/planters for the neighborhood
  • Hats and gloves give away during Octoberfest
  • Phillipsburg Senior Center for holiday party for seniors
  • Phillipsburg Chamber of Commerce for events including the Tree Lighting Ceremony
  • Seven local churches and food banks during the holiday season
  • Kiwanis for the purchase of food baskets for Easter
  • Needy local families during the holiday season
  • Phillipsburg Student Council upcoming projects
  • Atlantic States employees coordinate and load local supplies for the Katrina relief effort

Atlantic State's parent company, McWane, Inc., has also been active in the CAP and in projects to benefit the Phillipsburg community. McWane alone committed to spending more than $100,000 to renovate and restore the Phillipsburg Youth Center.
